78~81.9 B 3.0
75~77.9 B— 2.7
72~74.9 C+ 2.3

其成绩分别为: A B C D_ F
其绩点分别为: 4 3 2 1 0

5 PE is optional course and students can decide whether or not choose this course.
6 Students majoring in Chinese Language must learn a second foreign language as a compulsory course.
7 Exemption courses credits cannot replace other optional courses credits, because they are exemption credits. However, if departments think the international students can be excused from a course or the credits can be replaced by another course, then the department must report to the Office of Educational Administration. Only when the application is approved will those be possible.
8 All the undergraduate students should select their courses by logging in http://202.121.199.196:100/login.asp or entering “Shanghai University---administrative organization---the Office of Educational Administration” before the deadline. Any delay is at your own risk. The Office of Educational Administration needs to guarantee that all students can select the courses they need smoothly based on their situation.
Article 7 Course Assessment
1. All theoretical courses and practice-training activities need to be tested. The assessment methods can be a written examination, oral examination, or course papers according to the structure of the courses. The duration of the written examination is two hours.
2. The final score is mainly made up of daily performances and the final examination. Generally speaking, daily performance shouldn’t exceed more than 30% of the full score.
3. The theoretical courses are out of one hundred points and have the following grading scale (A、A-、B+、B、B-、C+、C、C-、D、D-、F) or pass/fail (P、L) while the practical courses have the following grading scale (A、A-、B+、B、B-、C+、C、C-、D、D-、F).

Article 8 Scores and Points
The final scores will be converted into GPA points.
1. How scores will be converted into GPA
Scores Letter Grade GPA
90~100 A 4.0
85~89.9 A— 3.7
82~84.9 B+ 3.3
78~81.9 B 3.0
75~77.9 B— 2.7
72~74.9 C+ 2.3
68~71.9 C 2.0
66~67.9 C— 1.7
64~65.9 D 1.5
60~63.9 D— 1.0
<60 F 0
Some courses are recorded as P (pass) and L (fail) without points.
2. Calculation of credit-points and GPA
The credits plus the points will be the credit-points of the course. Divide all the credit-points by all the credits, we get the GPA.
The course recorded as P and L are not calculated in this way:
For example, a students have five courses and each course credits is 4
Scores are: A B C D_ F
Points are: 4 3 2 1 0
Score-points are: 16 12 8 4 0
Then the GPA is: 10
GPA is calculated every semester.
Article 9 If the student’s score are above than 60 (D_) or P (pass), then he can get the credit of that course.
Article 10 Scores review
If students disagree with their scores results, they can apply for a review to their college within a week after the scores are posted. They need to fill out a Student’s Scores Review Application Form and submit it in time. The university collects the forms and hand them over to the course college. The course college needs to fulfill the review within two weeks and fill in Student's Scores Review Feedback Form and get them signed by the dean of teaching. Then the feedback form will be returned to the student’s college. If there is any adjustment to the scores, the college will go through the adjustment procedures.
Article 11 At the end of every semester, students are required to take exams. If they miss the exam, they will be regarded as “absence” and fail the course or get a zero. Any special circumstances may refer to the following:

4. Students who are approved to postpone the exam must fulfill the course before graduation or the course will be charged and recorded as “postponing”.
Article 12 Students must abide by Shanghai University Test-Room Rules and any violators will be strictly punished by the Shanghai University Exam Violation Behavior Defining and Punishment Provisions whether the score is zero or fail.
Article 13 Attendance to classes, internship, and activities will be checked and any absence must get approved in advance. 5. If students don’t select courses or don’t take the exams, they won’t get the corresponding credits.
Article 15 Course Retake
1. Failing an exam won’t allow student get the credits. If students fail the compulsory course, they have to retake the course. If students fail the optional class, they can retake that course or take another optional course. Only when they pass the course exam will they get the credits. However, if student wants to get a higher grade, he can retake the course and the final score is the highest one they get.
2. Students who retake their courses should adjust their learning schedule and guarantee learning quality. Experimental and practical courses must be retaken in time.
